Obedience for the five puppies

I woke up the other morning to the crying of a young dog in the crate.  It was five am and of course, I was not ready to get out of my cozy bed but off I went to see why the cry.

It seems she just wanted to get outside so I let all five of them outside.  I am raising my new group of breeding girls and my next stud.  They are together on what I refer to as the "adult" side even though these girls/boy are still really puppies.  They are leaning the routine, they are learning to behave (HA!!) and they are learning that I don't get up in the morning until 6:00 AM!!!

I usually keep one, sometimes two puppies from a litter to raise and train but since Dolly was spayed, I kept two of hers, one of Lizzy's and had Agatha from a spring litter who is just a year old.  She is the senior girl on the Adult side.

The five together make a lot of wild children when loading into crates or just trying to get one to come with me for a bath so it is time for some discipline.  I like to let them be puppies and do what puppies do but at 6 months, I draw the line.  This morning obedience lessons will begin.

I will post some video of the beginning and then of the end process.  I have already been training them for two days but to some that means nothing, to others, they have learned quite a bit and are doing well.  PollyAnna is a stubborn little girl but she is learning that the leash only goes so far!!!  Agatha has been on a leash before but not a lot so she has some manners.  Luna is very good but always sits with her back to me so that has to be corrected before we move forward with stay.  Dolly Too is just about perfect.  She wants to please and she is progressing.  As a reward after our morning class of healing and sit, they get to run on an acre and play.  It's great fun for them.

Oh, I almost forgot.....Rocky!!!  Rocky has decided he is not going to walk on a leash.  After two days of training, yesterday I took him out with Lizzy on a dual leash and he got the message but we will see if he actually walks on the leash this morning.  I will do video and post under as we progress.
